Binding Arbitration of Employee Grievances

Under the state constitution, a teacher has the right to present a formal grievance, such as an alleged contract violation by his or her supervisor, to the school district. The procedures used to resolve such employee grievances are subject to negotiation between the board and union. In Eagleville the Teachers’ Association would like this procedure to be binding arbitration by an impartial party acceptable to the Teachers’ Association. This way, the board cannot just ignore a legitimate grievance if they do not like the third party’s ruling. However, you are willing to temporarily accept advisory arbitration instead, provided that the interests of the teacher filing the grievance will be represented to his or her satisfaction.
